I was born in 1972 and grown up in Shimoda. After graduating from vocational school, I worked for a bus company and engaged in tour operation and tour planning.
After that, I took a career as a caregiver, but I started wishing to be in the tourism industry again. That's why I'm guiding sightseeing and outdoor/nature experiences in seamon, since June 2019.
Comment
Shimoda is a town with beautiful sea. "Sea craft” is made by decorating photo frame, etc. with sea glass and seashells found on the sea shore. Our guests often look struggling with the one and only piece of artwork in the world.Seamon offers many outdoor and nature experience programs. Recently, the "Fish and eat it in Shimoda," enabling fisherman to have their caught fish prepared by local restaurants, is getting popular.
For geo-enthusiasts, we are also the official visitor center for the Izu Peninsula Geopark. Learn how underwater volcanoes on the Philippine Sea Plate transformed to Izu Peninsula, before you start your geo tour.
My recommendations
- How delicious! Best restaurants to enjoy local specialties of Shimoda
-
Gorosaya, Japanese sea food, is so popular even among local people.. It's sometimes not easy to make reservation. Not to mention boiled alfonsino, sashimis and all a la cartes with seafoods are delicious.
- Superb view spots of Shimoda recommended by local guides
-
Nesugata Yama, Mt. laying lady. The ropeway takes you to the summit after 3 minutes. From the view point, you may have the distant view of Izu Seven Islands over Shimoda Port, on a fine day.
- The most favorite spot in the ocean of Shimoda and what makes the spot so special
-
Kujippama Beach. You must walk down the slope for 6 ~ 7 minutes from the parking lot. It looks an attractive private beach. The water color is brilliant and the sand is awfully white and beautiful.
