Profile

Born in Tochigi Prefecture. I devoted myself to soccer during my childhood, but in the twenties, drawn to the allure of the sea, I chose the path of becoming a diving instructor. I enjoyed boat diving in the summer and, in the winter, challenged myself by fishing for king crab aboard small fishing boats as a crew member. Eventually, I became interested in large cruise ships and is now working on them.

Comment

Ferry Azalea is a cargo-passenger ship connecting Shimoda and Izu Islands (Kozu,Shikine,Niijima and Toshima). In the summer, many passengers are transferred from Takeshiba Pier (Tokyo) to one of Izu Islands and then by Azalea to Shimoda. I'm eager to convey the beauty of Shimoda. For those boarding from Shimoda, I would like them discover how captivating the journey around Izu Islands, even if it's 1 day cruise (without disembarking on islands).

My recommendations

Superb view spots of Shimoda recommended by local guides
Mikomoto Island, lies about 10 km south of Shimoda Port. The famous lighthouse of Mikomoto (National Treasure) has been in operation for nearly 140 years, guiding ships through the waters. The lighthouse was built deliberately with Izu Ishi Tuff quarried in Shimoda and transported by ship. Since then, it has continuously emitted light that reaches into the distance.
How delicious! Best restaurants to enjoy local specialties of Shimoda
Kinme Tei Restaurant, adjacent to Shimoda Fish Market, serves you dishes with fresh kinme (alfonsino) supplied directly from the market, at reasonable prices. They also serve breakfast, for you to enjoy before sightseeing.
