You can share with friends memorable moments within authentic and classic Japanese house, creating your original art piece, which is a postcard, you decorate with paintings and messages inspired by landscapes or flowers of the seasons. (It is a pleasant and no-difficult experience, everyone can participate)My recommendations
- The most favorite place in Shimoda
-
'Shiroyama Park’ (Shimoda Park), in front of Sogabo, including Wakanoura Promenade along the coastal line which is the fringe of the park. It is almost the image of vast woods, for me. Blue ocean, view of the town of Shimoda, flowers of the season, green trees, sunshine penetrating leaves, twittering of birds, roaring waves and the wind passing, such are what I can see or hear strolling in the park.
- History of my household or tradition of my household
-
Sogabo was built in 1915, with Izu Ishi tuff. It locates along Perry Road, where Commodore Perry often took a walk, after his arrival at Shimoda to settle the peace and amity treaties with Japan, in the late Edo Era. We are now open on weekends, etc. as gallery & café.
- Our specialties!
-
Sogabo is just standing by Osaka Bridge crossing Hiraname River. The building is firmly erected on top of compiled cut Izu Ishi Tuff, which also function as the stabilizer of the river side. The black namako wall is rare, but is furnished on the side of the building.
