Notably beautiful beaches in Shimoda! However I was born and grown up at a remote area with the view of Amagi Mountains. Shimoda sprung up as a prominent sightseeing town when Izukyu-Line was constructed in 1961. But it can be said the status of Shimoda, as the rural capital town, never existed without industrial achievement of 'Shimoda Dock Company,' by Sawamura Family. There were movie theatres, authentic restaurants busy with guests for social use, and many geisha girls serving them. Ambition and struggle entangled when the town was energetic and the people full of pride. We used to say, 'Let's go to Shimoda,' magical words make us excited, means go up to the town from rural areas.Comment
Now, I 'm delighted in sharing a role to write an article about Shimoda Dock Yard. I recall a newly constructed huge boat slowly slid the slope of the dock, a picturesque imagery of Shimoda floating in my memory, more vivid than the historic Black Ship's visit to Shimoda, which is only by knowledge. Perry Road and the Ancient Sawamura Residence locate at the opposite side of Shimoda Port, where main yard of the dock resided. Whenever you stand there, the sea breeze, as if, brings you the oily smell of the dock yard, together with the ambience of the open port history, makes you confident that you arrive at the core of the port town.My recommendations

Stroll and visit cafés. On days off, I slip away from home, to visit favorite cafés to relax and taste pastries. In front of a cup of coffee and choice cake(s), I spend leisurely hours taking a look at newspaper mobile app. This photo shows the strawberry cake at Café Den, which bakes only 1 sweet each day. They also serve high quality organic coffee. Namely, Jashumon, Tsuboya and Kohikan are nice comfortable cafés.

I live in an old ancestral house with warehouse. Behind is a mountainside. From Spring to Autumn, I must fight against growing weeds. Various insects try to invade us. Nature is overwhelming us unless we conquer. However. recently, I've changed my attitude. In fact, how gentle and friendly the wilderness is, I felt strolling around countrysides and climbing nearby hills. Even one stalk of ikebana (arranged flower) tells a lot about natural beauty.
