Outline of the program

Shimoda Port was opened to the outside world by the arrival of the American fleet,'Kurofune - Black Ships.'
As a history museum in Shimoda, we display 1,000 historical materials related to Perry, Harris, Putjatin, Shoin Yoshida and Tojin Okich.

Program schedule

Walk around in the museum and read the explanation labels.
Feel the dawn of Moden Japan, following the foot steps of Commodore Perry, Townsend Harris, Shoin Yoshida, Tojin Okichi. All of them struggled to achieve what he, or she should do, in the turbulent age.
