Outline of the program

My grandson is a real lover of beautiful sea of Shimoda, with my influence. The title of the shop, "Ao-no-Oasobi (play with blue), Izu Artcraft Gallery," is his idea. In the gallery, take a look at potteries, wood prints, glass works, macramés, etc. All of them works of admirers of the beautiful Shimoda sea. If you watch and gently caress them, you may feel the refreshing current of air in the sky.
Another title for "Ao-no-Oasobi" is ”Tokoroten Café." The tokoroten prepared by Nishirin Factory is only made of quality seaweed from nearby Suzaki village. Delicate, but resilient, and with genuine flavor of the ocean. Feel free to stop with us, have leisure time, listening to the conversation between local people.

Program schedule

You can quietly contemplate pretty art crafts by artisans of the town. It is a comfortable space affording you a brief rest along your journey in this historical place. Taste our specialities such as tokoroten (seaweed jelly) and oshiruko (sweet bean soup), and also coffee.
