The cruise takes you around Shimoda harbor for 20 minutes. The scent of history still drifts. Perry's fleet stayed here for more than a month to conclude the Shimoda Treaty. A patriot Shoin Yoshida approached the Black Ship, by a small boat, to negotiate with Commodore about taking him to the US, but refused, only to be taken captive by Japanese magistrate. While he was out on bail, he opened a private school in his hometown Hagi and educated disciples who conducted turbulent Japan. Please visit the Gukisho of Shoin Yoshida in the mountain side of Rendaiji, where he hid himself before his attempt to go out of Japan. (10 minutes' drive /?Wednesday holiday）
